This winter I wanted to have a shawl or stole to wrap around my shoulders when I am sitting in the living room with my husband, watching a favorite show on television, or a good movie.  Our house is 200 years old, so of course there can be drafts especially when a storm is blowing outside.

I also needed the same thing for the occasional cold morning at church, to keep my shoulders warm if the heater has not warmed the chapel sufficiently.

As I would be wearing the wrap both at home and at church, I wanted it to be pretty enough for church but casual enough for home … and warm enough for both.  I also tend to want somewhat rustic looking knitted items in colors that make me think of the weather, our farm, or the land around here.

The pattern is available for sale as either an online download, or printed and mailed. I used Montera yarn from Classic Elite Yarns (a medium weight yarn) but the pattern is easily adapted to any yarn weight; I have included instructions for that purpose in the pattern.

The "for sale" versions of my patterns feature full-color covers; the instructions pages are black and white text with color photo illustrations of details.
