How do I love my Kindle? Let me count the ways ...

My husband gave me Kindle for my birthday this year (summer, 2011), and I have to say I am in love with my Kindle. I knew I wanted one, but I had no idea just how much I would love it. This has been a great surprise, and I want to encourage other people to get Kindles as well because I honestly think it is such a great product.

I have always loved reading, loved books, and loved writing. However, as I have gotten older (hey, I'm not all that old, just older than I used to be) my eyes started changing and my shoulders and back got to where they would ache as I held a book to read it. I also tend to always have a good dictionary close by when I read, and dictionaires are heavy.

What happened is that over time I started reading less and less because it wasn't as comfortable as it used to be. Now that I have a Kindle, I am reading all the time again. I carry my Kindle with me everywhere, and it has a dictionary loaded on it so I can look up words without having to lift a heavy dictionary.

In the Kindle store, once you find a book you are interested in, you can download a sample before deciding if you want to make a purchase. You can even get periodicals and blogs delivered automatically to your Kindle device for a small monthly subscription fee. (I set up my blog so people can get it on Kindle if they choose.)

With the new Kindle line up, you can get a Kindle for as little as $79, or "Fire", their all-new full color Kindle for $199. Or, you can really go all out and get a large version of the Kindle for a little under $400. I have one of the smaller, original sized ones and I find that it is perfect for me.

It is rare that I feel this enthusiastic about a product, but I am so in love with my Kindle that I just had to share my enthusiasm and encourage others to get one of their own.

Another aspect of Kindle (as well as other reading devices) that is particularly exciting to me is the ability these devices afford writers to publish their works and bring them directly to their readers without publishers and editors and agents and so forth in the mix.

I have started publishing books for Kindle and will release more as I have them ready. These books are also available as eBooks for those who do not own a Kindle yet.
