Materials

• 1 skein (70.9 g/2.5 oz.) 4-ply worsted weight 100% cotton yarn (I used Peaches 'n Cream in Yellow)
• U.S. size 5 knitting needles (straight, dpns, or circular)
• A 12" piece of 1/4" wide white grosgrain ribbon
• Large tapestry needle

Directions

Cast on 42 stitches.

Knit first five rows.

Row 6: K3, yo twice, k2tog, k2, *p2, k4*, repeat from * to * until you reach last five stitches, p2, k3. Turn.

Row 7: Knit.

Row 8: Knit 5, *p2, k4*, repeat from * to * until you reach last five stitches, knit5. Turn.

Rows 9, 10, 11: Knit.

Pattern Rows

Row 12: K7, *p2, k4*, repeat from * to * until you reach the last five stitches, p2, k3. Turn.

Row 13: Knit.

Row 14: Repeat row 8.

Row 15, 16, 17: Knit.

Repeat Pattern Rows ten more times.

Knit last five tows.

Cast off.

Bind off.

Weave loose ends of yarn into back of washcloth. Trim excess yarn.

Lace 12" piece of grosgrain ribbon into hanging hold; tie in pretty bow, leaving a loop for hanging.
