"To prepare for the paintings, I set the fruit up on a beautiful north-facing stone window sill by our fireplace at the farm. The soft colors and patterns in the stone create a wonderful backdrop for various fruits. Notice in this painting the cool blue light on the left of the pear, and the warm sunny light on the right? As an artist it is thrilling to notice the characteristics of light and find a way to communicate the beauty I find within it." ~ J. L. Fleckenstein
